Before she was Sister Allison, or “Ally” as she is normally called, Ally was just another young woman in the orphanages of Mamaurad. As a very young child, she had been found wandering the streets, speaking mostly in Trade with the odd Korin phrase here and there. While she identified herself as Allison, she did not know her parents' names, or where she had come from. The people of the neighborhood she was found in assumed that her parents were pilgrims from Korin who had either lost or abandoned their little girl. Either way, the streets was no place for a young child; she was sent to the nearest city orphanage, one that was run by several Sisters of the clergy. Since nobody ever came for her, it was there that she grew up.

As a child, Ally staunchly refused the two or three couples who offered to bring her home, quite certain that one day her parents would come for her. By the time she was eleven, it finally hit home that her parents weren’t coming back for her. Despite the disappointment this brought her, Ally was determined that the Dragons had good things planned for her if she worked hard and did her best. So, life went on. By this time she was a bit older then what most parents are looking for when they want to adopt a child. Thankfully, this also meant that she was old enough to begin “helping out” around the orphanage. It began with doing a few more chores then usual, which progressed into helping some of the other children with their lessons, and that eventually led to her helping take care of the younger children, when she was old enough. As she grew older, Ally began to help more and more with the orphanage, so much so that some of the newer children sometimes mistakenly called her, “Sister Ally”... because, after all, the other ladies that took care of them were Sisters: why not this one?

Growing up, the person who affected Ally the most was one of the Sisters who took care of the orphanage, an older woman by the name of Helena. Sister Helena influenced Ally a great deal; from her, she discovered a great love of the Scriptures, and “doing the right thing.” Sister Helena was the one who helped her learn Megam, and helped her learn that she could use staves. Most importantly, Sister Helena is the person who inspired Ally to become a Sister herself, and who supported her in her decision to leave the orphanage to join one of the local convents. She was a bit of a mother figure to Ally, and the two are very close; Ally often visited her when she could, and they still keep in touch the best they can through letters.

Life in the convent was not exactly what Ally expected it would be. Considering that she had never left the orphanage before, Ally felt a bit awkward in her new environment. While she loved her lessons, and adored the fact that she finally felt she had found her place in life, she felt rather bewildered by all the new people and how she had left nearly everything she knew. As such, she was much quieter then her usual self. Because of this, many of the other Sisters thought she was rather snooty, and didn’t want to have much to do with her. This unfortunately simply reinforced her withdrawn behavior. Adding in her inherent clumsiness, Ally had a very hard time settling into the convent, never really being able to quite fit in or make new friends among the other Sisters. As such, she was very lonely and unhappy there.

However, when the opportunity came for her to be transferred to another convent in Lucre, the Sister in charge of her original convent decided that it would be wise for Ally to make the trip. Since Ally had had a hard time settling in at this first convent, it was decided that a fellow sibling in the faith would be assigned to help her get used to the new convent. She has taken the transition much better then anyone has expected her to, thanks to the help of Brother Emery, the priest assigned to help her settle in to her new convent. She has made several new friends, and is doing well in the various lessons and chores that have been assigned to her. Ally is much happier then she was in Mamaurad, although she still tends to have bouts of homesickness every now and again.

Usually a sweet young lady, Ally is usually very bright and friendly. In the face of new situations, she often feels off-center and intimidated; she will clam up almost entirely until she regains her footing. However, once she finds a place for herself, Ally is much more relaxed and becomes her usual self. An idealist with a generally cheerful disposition and sunny outlook on life, Ally gets along with most people if she’s given a chance. Ally tends to form emotional attachments very quickly; she can be a bit clingy, and rejection scares her. The reason why she was so unhappy in the convent at Mamaurad was because she was simply without the emotional support she needed; she is happy in Lucre now because she has made friends, and is beginning to make a place for herself. Besides making several new friends in Lucre, Ally harbors a crush on Brother Emery, the young man who was assigned to help her "settle in" to her new convent in Lucre. She enjoys spending time with him, and thinks he really is very wonderful. She respects his opinion immensely, and works very hard to please him. Her friends often tease her about this crush, as she is rather obvious about it to those who know her.

Ally is very earnest and hardworking, and tends to throw herself into everything she does, be it religion, chores, or lessons. She is the sort of person who, while not quite a perfectionist, can’t stand to leave something half-done. If she feels she can do a thing, she might as well do it to the best of her ability. This comes mostly from her crave of approval; if Ally feels she has done well, or affected people around her in a positive way, she is happy. If she feels that she has done something bad, she tends to be quiet and withdrawn until she feels she has proven herself. The last thing Ally would ever want to do is cause people distress of any kind, so she avoids confrontations like the plague. Ally lives under a set of self-imposed expectations, which can sometimes be unrealistic. She has a hard time dealing with negative emotions, such as anger or sadness; she will at first deny that she is feeling such things. If that dos not work, Ally will then attempt to convince herself that she is being very foolish about whatever is bothering her and will bottle it up.

Her faith in the Dragons is very earnest and true: Ally believes in them with all her heart. She does not focus on the negative aspects of her religion, such as sin and condemnation, instead preferring to share the love of the Dragons with the people around her. Whenever she is asked to write about the dogma of the Church, Ally focuses on the forgiveness, love, and kindness of the Dragons. Ally feels that being a Sister is her true calling in life; when she lived in the orphanage, she often felt rather lost. Even though she was terribly lonely in her previous convent, Ally still knew that this was what she wanted to do with her life. She hopes that one day, she will be able to work in an orphanage that she grew up in. While she loves working with children, Ally is prepared to go down whatever path she believes the Dragons have in store for her.

Small and slender, Ally looks several years younger then she actually is. She is rather pale, and often gets sunburns during the summer. Her dusky hair is very fine and wavy, and she often ties it back in pigtails with ribbons, when the fancy catches her. Her eyes are blue, and are extremely expressive; it’s not hard to tell what Ally is feeling, because it is often written all over her face. She normally wears the white robes of a Sister, but when she is not, Ally enjoys wearing dresses in bright and cheerful colors. She has absolutely no figure to speak of, much to her chagrin. Ally hopes that one day she’ll finally get that “last growth spurt!” in... various areas, but such a thing will most likely never happen, at least in great amounts.

Ally is rather clumsy, especially when she is nervous or flustered; it’s not a rare sight to see her tripping, falling down (or up) various staircases, getting her hair caught on something, bumping into various personages, spilling things, and sometimes running into closed doors (although she’ll swear that’s only happened once... or twice...).
